Xiao Chunli is a passionate teacher in a neighborhood secondary school with rock bottom performance, both in academic results and co-curricular activities. Yan Tianfa is the KPI-driven principal newly posted to restructure and revitalize the under-performing Blue Sky Secondary. Chunli has to prove the gymnast team under her charge is worth keeping. Together with Speed, an unconventional relief teacher and five plucky students, they embark on a quest to win the first medal for the team in a national Double-Dutch competition.

Xiao Chun Li (Jeanette Aw)
After getting her degree, Chun Li successfully fulfilled her dream to be a Chinese teacher and inspire her students.
However, the dreams of her past continue to haunt Chun Li. Time and again, she would have nightmares of herself painstakingly preparing for a gymnast competition and emerge, a nobody...or at best, a consolation prize, over and over again.
Perhaps this has something to do with her family background. Being born as a daughter to her father's second and "unofficial" wife, Chun Li never had her father's full attention, and the love she deserved is always "consolation" in nature.

Being a product of the elite system himself, Speed comes to Blue Sky Secondary hoping to find out more about how classes are conducted in neighbourhood school.
He is unconventional and experimental in his thinking and often finds himself challenging assumptions.
Like the inspiring teacher in "Dead Poet's Society", Speed believes in "carpe diem", "seize the day". He believes if his students don't live life to its fullest in the present, they will never be passionate to pursue anything.
Speed is against the over emphasis of the method of assessment through grading and examinations. He feels the traditional ways of assessment produces the same mould of students, who are uncompetitive, uninteresting and uncreative.

Her mother works as a hawker helper, and seldom has the time or energy to take care of the family household chores. Yen works part time for her living expenses and to support her 8-year-old brother whom she is very protective of.

Chen Xi has a problem of giving up too easily without a good fight. He does not like hard work and prefers the "short-cuts" in life. Eventually, he loses out the opportunities to learn.
Fu Xiao Min (Tan Mei Kee)
A member of the gymnast team, Xiao Min is the typical nerdy, goody-two-shoe girl. Xiao Min is soft spoken and afraid to speak her mind.
Xiao Min attends numerous number of tuition classes after school. Despite being a secondary two student, her parents have signed her up for secondary three Maths and Science lessons to be ahead of her studies. As a result, Xiao Min struggles to balance between her CCA and her tuition classes.

Heavily influenced by his parents, Xing Nan is musically inclined and he has a good knowledge on all kinds of music. His sense of rhythm and musical skills will later be an invaluable asset to "Jumping Waves".
